The Finish Line Is In Sight!

Happy MAY everyone! This month brings an end to state testing (MAP Testing) for ALL grade levels (YAY!) and kids looking forward to the end of the school year. This also brings with it a sense of irritation because students have been with each other, in the same class, all year long. Tempers get short and seem to ignite easier. Friendships are tested. Please help the teachers maintain classroom order – and help your kids keep their friendships intact – by talking to them at home about what they can do when they feel their temper flaring. Some suggestions include:

*Take a deep breath (or 2, or 3)

*Count to 10 slowly

*Walk away

*Ask the teacher if they can use restroom or get a drink

*Go do something else (if able to)

*Sing their favorite song in their head

Have a GREAT summer!

I hope you have a SAFE and FUN summer! Enjoy the warm weather and family time! Please remember to practice summer safety. One way to do this is to always have children wear helmets while riding their bikes, scooters, dirt bikes and ATV’s. Another way to do this is to practice good water safety—both in the pool while swimming and on the lake while boating and/or swimming. Always have children wear a life jacket while boating and if they can’t swim very well. Also, make sure they stay out of the deep end of swimming pools if they can’t swim and make sure they can touch with their head above water in the shallow end. It’s also important to have adult supervision while children are swimming in case of emergency situations.
